Fees & Health Funds
Health Funds, HICAPS & Payment Plans at Dental on Railway
Clear quotes, on-the-spot claiming where your fund allows it, and a team in Mount Lawley who will talk honestly with you about cost before any treatment begins.
No surprises, no awkward conversations at the desk
Money is one of the main reasons people put off dental care, and we'd rather talk about it openly than have you delay something that matters. At Dental on Railway you'll always know the cost of your treatment before it starts, and our team is happy to spend time helping you understand how your health fund cover, Medicare entitlements and appointment scheduling fit together.
We welcome patients from every Australian health fund, and you never need to change funds or dentists to be seen here. Because Dr Simon Frame sees you personally at each visit, your treatment plan is built around what you actually need and what is realistic for you — not a one-size-fits-all schedule.
Our Railway Parade practice serves families from Mount Lawley, Inglewood, Maylands, Highgate and across Perth, with free parking directly across the road and ACROD accessible parking at our front door.

How We Work
Making the money side straightforward
A few simple commitments that apply to every patient who walks through our door.
All health funds welcome
You don't need to switch dentists to see us. Patients with every major Australian fund are welcome at Railway Parade.
On-the-spot claiming
Where your fund allows it, we process your claim at reception so you only settle any gap before you leave.
Quotes before treatment
Written treatment plans with item numbers, so you can check your rebate with your fund before you commit.
A conversation, not a hard sell
If cost is a concern, tell us. We'll stage treatment sensibly and prioritise what genuinely needs doing first.
Claiming your health fund rebate
Most patients simply hand over their membership card at reception and we take care of the rest. Because every policy differs in its annual limits, waiting periods and percentage rebates, we'd always encourage you to ask our team about your particular situation — that's exactly what they're there for.
For larger treatment such as crowns, implants or orthodontics, a pre-approval from your fund is well worth the five minutes it takes. We'll give you the item numbers you need.
Ask our team about your coverBring your health fund card
Your physical or digital membership card is all we need. If you're not sure whether you're covered for a particular treatment, bring the details and our team will help you look into it.
We give you a written quote first
For anything beyond a routine visit, you'll receive a treatment plan listing the ADA item numbers involved. You can send this to your fund for a pre-approval so there are no surprises.
We claim at the front desk
Where on-the-spot claiming is available for your fund and treatment, we process it at reception. Your rebate is applied immediately and you pay only the difference.
You leave knowing exactly where you stand
You'll receive an itemised receipt every time, whether the claim was processed here or you're lodging it yourself.
Child Dental Benefits Schedule
Medicare-funded dental care for eligible children
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is an Australian Government programme that helps families with the cost of basic dental care for eligible children and teenagers. Eligible children may receive up to the Medicare-capped benefit over a two-year period, which for many families covers routine care completely.
Eligibility is determined by Medicare rather than by us, and depends on your family receiving a qualifying government payment. We'd encourage every family to check — plenty of parents are surprised to find they qualify.
- The CDBS is a Medicare programme that helps cover basic dental services for eligible children and teenagers.
- Eligible children may receive up to the Medicare-capped benefit across a two-year period.
- It typically covers services such as examinations, X-rays, cleans, fissure sealants, fillings, root canals and extractions.
- Cosmetic treatment and orthodontics are not covered, and services must be provided outside a hospital setting.
- Eligibility is assessed by Medicare and depends on your family receiving a qualifying government payment.
How to check your child's eligibility
The quickest way is through your Medicare online account via myGov, the Express Plus Medicare app, or by calling Medicare directly. Once you've confirmed the balance available, let our team know when you book and we'll take it from there.

Paying for Treatment
Let's make it manageable
If a treatment plan feels like a lot to take on at once, say so. There is almost always a sensible way to structure it.
Ask our team about payment options
Our reception team can talk you through the payment methods and arrangements currently available at the practice. It's a five-minute conversation and there's no obligation attached to it.
Stage treatment over time
Non-urgent work can often be spread across appointments — or across health fund benefit years — so you make use of two annual limits rather than one. We'll help you plan the sequence.
Prioritise what matters most
Not everything needs doing today. Dr Frame will tell you plainly what is urgent, what can wait and what is entirely optional, so you can spend where it counts.
Available payment arrangements can change over time, so please confirm current options with our team on (08) 6255 9005 before your appointment.
Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
Which health funds do you accept at Dental on Railway?
We welcome patients from all Australian private health funds, including the major ones many Perth families hold such as BUPA, HBF, Medibank, HCF, NIB and the smaller regional funds. You do not need to change your dentist or your fund to be seen at our Railway Parade practice. Rebate amounts, annual limits and waiting periods differ from policy to policy, so the most reliable approach is to give us a call on (08) 6255 9005 or ask our team at reception, and we'll help you work out what your particular cover means for your treatment plan.
Can I claim on the spot?
In most cases yes. Where your fund supports electronic claiming for the treatment you've had, our team can process the claim at reception so your rebate is applied immediately and you only pay any remaining gap. Occasionally a fund requires a manual claim or a pre-approval for larger items such as crowns or implants — if that applies to you, we'll give you a fully itemised receipt with item numbers so you can lodge it yourself easily. Ask our team when you book and we'll let you know what to expect.
What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule and is my child eligible?
The CDBS is an Australian Government programme delivered through Medicare that helps cover the cost of basic dental care for eligible children and teenagers. Eligible children may receive up to the Medicare-capped benefit over a two-year period, covering services such as check-ups, X-rays, cleans, fissure sealants, fillings and extractions. It does not cover orthodontics or cosmetic work. Eligibility depends on your family receiving a qualifying government payment and is determined by Medicare, not by us — the quickest way to check is through your Medicare online account via myGov, the Express Plus Medicare app, or by calling Medicare directly. Once you've confirmed, let our team know and we'll bulk bill eligible services against the balance.
Do you offer payment plans?
We understand that larger treatment plans need to be manageable, and we'd much rather have a straightforward conversation about it than see someone delay care they need. Please ask our team about the payment options currently available at the practice, and about staging treatment across appointments or across health fund benefit years, which is often the simplest way to spread the cost. We'll always be upfront about fees and never proceed with treatment you haven't agreed to.
What is the $295 new patient offer and can I use my health fund with it?
Our $295 new patient offer includes a comprehensive examination, a professional scale and clean, full-mouth OPG and bitewing X-rays, and a personalised treatment plan. Health insurance can be used in conjunction with the offer — if your cover rebates more than $295 for the item codes involved, your appointment will be gap-free. It's available to new patients of all ages at our Mount Lawley practice.
What will my treatment actually cost?
Every mouth is different, so the honest answer is that we need to see you first. Cost depends on which teeth are involved, the materials used, whether any preparatory work is needed and how complex the case is. What we can promise is transparency: after your examination you'll receive a written treatment plan with ADA item numbers and fees, so you can check your rebate with your fund and make an unhurried decision. Nothing goes ahead until you've said yes.
Do you see patients without private health insurance?
Absolutely, and a great many of our patients don't hold cover. Private health insurance changes what you pay out of pocket, not the standard of care you receive here. We'll give you the same written quote, the same explanation of your options, and the same willingness to prioritise and stage treatment so it fits your circumstances.
